Tarangire's most stunning feature is its abundant elephant population. In fact, it has the highest population of any park in northern Tanzania. These gentle giants number in excess of 3,000. Tarangire is now enjoying an elephant baby boom, so you will see a lot of juniors and infants in the herd. Expect to witness zebra, eland, mongoose, giraffe, bushbuck, hartebeest, dik-dik, impala, warthog, and reedbuck. You may come across olive baboons, velvet monkeys, and bush babies. The park is home to several carnivores, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals. Today is your last safari adventure; after the game drive, you will begin your return to Moshi or Arusha.
